Title: Live from Atlanta!

The first two days at the National Youth Worker Convention (NYWC) has been amazing!

I started early on Thursday afternoon for the Real World Parents Training Seminar, and I am so excited to see what God is going to do throught the presentation of this material at Fannin and other local churches.  It was comforting to discover the material is intended as a spiritual formation guide, and not parental advice or parenting solutions.  I am qualified for the former much more so than the later.

Andy Stanley was incredible and dynamic as he usually is when it comes to leadership in the church, and his discussion on the certainty of uncertainty was very well thought out and got lots of good infor from him.  Francis Chan, author of Crazy Love, was fantastic last night.  His authenticity and desire to connect on a very personal level left me so drawn in that I could barely write any notes down.  It was not intended to be a tools for ministry talk, so much as an encouragement to seek after the heart of God and seek His charatcer in our own lives.

This morning we just got through listening to Perry Noble and I will most certainly be bringin a DVD of his talk home with me.  He discussed his four prayers for youth mininstry and I will expound more on this after I return to Midland.  Honestly he sounded like the pastoral side of Ricky Bobby...if that is even possible!  He was so passionate and blunt, and straight-foward.  It was comforting to hear such a love for youth ministry from someone who has been a senior pastor for so long.  Noble challenged senior pastors, youth ministers, and youth volunteers and it was truly entertaining, but more than that, it was powerful.

I am looking foward to the rest of the weekend and we will be home Tuesday at 6:00pm.  We are getting plenty of walking in; probably around 5-6 miles a day (not exagerrating!)  We're gonna be skinny(er) when we get back, and yes Kathy, I know skinnier is without a "y"... ha ha, have a great weekend all and HOOK EM HORNS!
