Last week I mentioned our mission trip. Let me fill you in on a few details of what we did on the trip. We focused on four specific ministries while we were there. We started on Tuesday morning when everyone on the team distributed food to the elderly and shut in, or those with special needs. We would give them a large bag of food as a gift, visit, and seek to present the gospel. I had the honor of leading two people to faith in Jesus during these visits. Then on Wednesday morning through Friday morning the team divided into two groups: one group did food distribution while the other group led "American Club." American Club is designed to bring in kids to hear about life in America. It sounds so egocentric, but it is something the kids there are interested in attending. It was a great opportunity to build relationships and share the gospel.
In the afternoon we tackled two different projects. Part of the group worked at VBS for young kids while the rest of the group worked at the Sports camps for the older kids through late teens. I worked the Basketball camp. For a 47-year-old guy, I help up pretty well against a bunch of teenagers. We also offered soccer and volleyball camps. When all was said and done, I believe about 40 people
made a profession of faith in Christ. Now the work for the Church there begins as they labor to lead
these people into a growing relationship with Christ and the body there at Kishnev Bible Church.
The most enjoyable thing for me this year was the food distribution. I really enjoyed visiting with the people and presenting the gospel. On lady we visited was different from most. She was a young mother, probably 25/26 years old. She is former drug addict. She has a young daughter, about 2 years old, from a husband who died not long ago. She was so open to visit and hear about God. Before we left she made the commitment to receive the forgiveness of Christ and follow Him.
All in all it was a great trip. God's hand was all over this trip. He provided for our financial needs, got all our luggage there, gave great weather for all the different work, kept us from major injury on the sports field, provided a great team of translators for us, and the list goes on. I know these may sound like small things. However, on a trip of this nature, it is all the little things that make it so effective. In the end, it all comes back to God anyway. We do these trips for Him. To spread the fragrance of the gospel of grace around the world. It is not by our ability, power, talents, wisdom, or anything else that these trips come together and happen. It is by His grace. And in the end I hope it is all for His glory.
