It is a sad morning for me this Tuesday. I just found out that a long time friend and teacher of mine passed away yesterday.
Miss Dorothy MacIntosh was my High School Choir Director. Miss Mac (as we called her) was for me the poster child for consistency. She taught school choir for over 50 years and was very successful at it. Her Choirs won more awards than could be mentioned here and we had fun doing it. She was five foot nothing and would stand up to the largest football player and we all loved her for it. She played the organ at her church and was always a faithful testimony of Christ in and out of the classroom. We did numerous Musicals, variety shows and Musical Reviews and though hectic in practice always performed well and with class.
I remember one time I was trying out for a part in the Musical "Cinderella" (she made us all try out) and I don't know why but I was up for the lead. She said as gently, as you can from the tenth 15th row of the auditorium with me on the stage, "You're to tall for the lead you'll look silly dancing with the female lead" I quickly spun on my heels and made my haste thinking I got out of the musical all together. Then, she bellowed from the back "You'll be the herald". Five weeks later I'm standing backstage after singing the opening song thinking. I am having so much fun and it wouldn't of happened with out Miss Mac pushing me.
She will always have a dear place in my heart. We love you Miss Mac.
