Title: Hamster World

Today started out with me chasing an escaped hamster that was running around my office. He scurried around the edge of my office walls as the secretaries and I chased him. It was like pursing James Bond. He turned away here and dodged us there. He continued to avoid our traps. Finally, he ended up between two file cabinets. After attempting several means of getting him to come out, we resorted to a long broom handle and large plastic cup. (This is life in a world of technology). I wedged the broom handle between the two file cabinets near the wall. Slowly, I dragged the broom handle toward the front of the cabinets. This caused our new rodent friend to reluctantly make his way forward. Once he reached the opening between the two cabinets, he walked into the cup. One of the ladies helping me scooped up and covered the top of the cup with her hand. He was released back into his cage. There was much rejoicing. This got me thinking about where else he could have gone. Had he gone out into the hallway, he might have been subject to the dangers of the workmen who are remodeling throughout the Church. If he survived that, he likely would have gone outside and become lunch for some wandering cat. He may not be glad to be back in his cage. However, he probably doesn't even know what harm could have come to him. Aren't we all sometimes like that hamster? We want to 'escape' to pursue things without knowing the dangers that really await us. We don't even know the awful things that God has kept from happening to us. We should be glad that when we wander off, God graciously brings us back. Hebrews 12.7-11

I can relate. Much like trying to get a cat into his carrier in order to take him to the vet. You know it's for his best, but you have a hard time convincing him of that.
